Postcard Postage Rate Increase In January 2014 - Ways To Reduce Your Postcard Mailing Costs

Los Angeles, CA - January 28, 2014 - The cost of mailing postcards is going up. The United States Postal Service has announced a postage rate increase from 33 to 34 cents each for postcards, effective January 28, 2014. But there are ways to reduce postage costs for postcard mailings. This new rate is for postcards with these dimensions:

  • Minimum size: 5 inches long by 3.5 inches high
  • Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4.25 inches high

  • Postcard mailings and the 2014 postage increase

You can qualify for discounted postcard postage at the Presorted First Class rates ranging from 23 - 29 cents per postcard (exact rates depend on the addresses contained in the list) when your list contains 500 or more addresses. Your postcard mailing list can be presorted and get you the discounted postcard postage & avoid the USPS postage rate increase, which will save you at least a nickel per postcard. When your postcard mailing is more than 5,000 postcards, you'll find savings in using an outside mailing service; the postage savings will be greater than the cost of the postcard mailing service and in the end, will save you money on your postcard mailing. You have the option of printing postcards yourself and shipping them to the postcard mailing service, or having them do both the postcard printing and mailing for you.

Even with the postage rate increase, a 6 x 4.25 inch postcard printing and mailing is the least expensive and very effective way to get your postcard marketing message into the hands of your customers and prospects via direct mail marketing.

"Postcard mailings offer the biggest bang for your direct mail marketing
budget," says Tim Morgan, Marketing Director. "It's an efficient way
to communicate to your target audience. And with today's technology
it's very easy to create great looking, powerful direct mail postcards.
Simply upload the artwork online and you're done - without leaving your office."

Larger postcards, such as a 6 x 9 postcard, require a 49 cent stamp, but when you mail more than 5,000 postcards, the Standard Mail Presort rate is only 23 - 29 cents per postcard (exact rates depend on the addresses contained in the list) saving you 19 cents or more in postcard postage per piece!
